The Vette is going to be covered in 2002 Corvette Electorn Blue Pearl Metallic. What is being used is the Dupont Chroma Base Base Coat/Clear Coat system. I am applying the Ultra 2K Filler Primer in my shop at home and then will be taking the car to my uncles body shop where I will apply the Base Coat and Clear Coat in a professional paint booth and then bake the paint on. Once completed my uncle is going to buff the whole car.
Most everything is in primer now. The next step is to wet sand and cut in all the door jams to reduce the amount area that I will have to paint when the car is at the spray booth.
Notice the cool (NOT) Monte Carlo wheels that were installed for painting. Those have to go.....SOON!!
After 2 coats of primer, wet sanding, 3 coats of color and three coats of clear the t tops are the first test pieces to be painted. Sure hope the rest looks this good!
The final assembly before painting.
The moment of truth, the paint is on the car, thanks to Niebling Auto Body for the use of their spray booth and their painter.
