The oil pump didn't bolt right no as expected. I had to clearance the pump casting where it wraps around the ARP main bearing stud.
With 15,000 miles the block aquired a crack. Or what looks to be a crack. Its in the ring ridge area. The block has since been sleeved to correct this problem. | New Valve Covers were painted to match the car as well.
The cylinder heads are GM Performace Parts Oval Port Aluminum Cylinder Heads. These are far superior to the previous heads below. I cleaned up the entrance to the intake ports, they were CNC'd to the correct size but at a slight chamfer, so I flattened out the chamfer and blended it into the rest of the port. I also cut down the bumps in the port that the push rods pass through. I also clearanced the combustion chambers to the JE Pistons and balanced the chamber size average at 112cc's. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of the finished ports. The heads were finished off with a set of CompCams BeeHive springs, Teflon Valve seals, and 1.8:1 stainless steel roller rockers.
The previous cylinder heads were 1969 GM Cast Iron Oval Ports which were ported by the previous owner. They worked well but the aluminum heads were a nice upgrade. These heads are now going to reside on a 454 which will be put in my Z-71. |

The first test fit of the Mark VI Engine block into the '76 Vette frame. As you can see there is a slight clearance problem with the truck oil pan and the power steering cylinder. The ohter big problem with the pan is that it hangs about 2.5" lower than the transmission pan. Hopefully a custom Rack and Pinion setup and a few minor mods to the oil pan depth will fix all this.
