The Corvette Steering Cherokee steering box upgrade. The first picture shows the box as installed without the motor. This is by far the easiest way to do it but I have also removed it from the car with everything installed except the header. Three tubes on the Stahl Side pipe headers (2.125" primary tubes) had to be tuned for clearance. I can remove and reinstall the header without loosening the steering box. You can also see the hydraboost installed and the adapter which I had to make for the drain from the hydraboost unit.

My kit was supplied with the new pitman arm but since then Corvette Steering has started resplining the output shaft so that you can use the orginal pitman arm from the car. I believe he also sells a spacer to lock up the orginal steering control valve.

The problems which I ran into were that there were no instructions with his kit. This would have been useful, I didn't know I was supposed to collapse the steering column in order for it all to fit. One phone call later and the problem was solved. The other problems were of course making sure I had the high pressure line going to the correct port on the steering box and getting the old steering control valve locked up enough to prevent side to side movement and still allow the ball joint to rotate while steering. I solved this by staking a bunch of washers in the control vavle till I got the desired movement I wanted. An alternative would be to order the manual steering drag link and installing it in place of the power steering drag link.

The headers did have to be cleareanced and I was also able to install a set of hooker under car headers with 2.125" primary tubes with similar tuning dents.
